how do i support my boyfriend?
hii. my boyfriend recently told me he tried to attempt around a week ago. he has pretty persistent mental health issues for the past couple of years, but due to his mentality and family/internet culture, he was brought up around the idea that having mental health issues is somehow embarrassing or a weakness, and refused help. im currently overseas, so when he told me I freaked out but wasn't able to speak for long. however, i texted him afterwards and also spoke to my parents. ive instilled support, spoken to him and also established my boundaries, but i feel a shit girlfriend and for the past 24 hours, i have been plagued with a sense of constant anxiety and fear.
i have connected to him support and done all i feel i have to do, but i still feel incredibly at a loss of what to do. i feel scared and upset, and i also feel like im being selfish because i have had to say i cannot speak over the phone on call (for a range of reasons, this being one of them), but he said he wants that. however, i just can't. its making me upset and sad (for reasons beforehand not relating specifically to what he told me). i just don't know where to go here in trying to support him as a girlfriend, because i feel like i have this immense and incredible pressure about ensuring his wellbeing, and deep anxiety for no apparent reason. i love my boyfriend but i am at a loss for what to do. please, if you have any advice, i would deeply appreciate it.
