Why is the change to sunset and sunrise times not symmetrical?

I live in Calgary, Alberta, and the sunrise today was at 8:16am and sunset is at 4:34pm. On December 21st, the sunrise is at 8:35am and sunset is at 4:33pm. Sunrise changes by 19 minutes, but sunset only changes by 1 minute. Why isn’t it equal in both directions?
