Hand pain and adaptations?

Life Hacks & Tips

Hey y'all!

I have pain in my hands and wrists and I'm getting fitted for silver splints. I have temporary ones and I'm finding them really beneficial, and I'm feeling hopeful about reducing pain further. That being said, I'm finding that I am still having trouble doing certain kinds of activities with my hands. Are there any tips or tricks or other things that people found helpful with their hand hypermobility and pain? Specifically, any tips around writing, crafting, cooking and eating? I think I need to look into different kinds of cutlery or different ways of using kitchen tools, but I don't know where to start. And are there professionals that people have found helpful? I'm in the Netherlands so have some access if I know exactly what to ask for.

So far I have:

  • temporary splints
  • exercises that I got from my physiotherapist a while ago
  • fat pens and pencils including the ones you give to kids who are still learning to write.
  • A habit of applying muscle balm to my hands during the worst times.
  • a hypermobility spectrum diagnosis. (No Genetics done)

That being said, any tips, tricks or tools are very welcome.

Hope everyone has a good low pain day!
