bios won’t detect usb

i just finished my first pc build, everything’s running and i’m in the bios menu trying to install windows 11. i know the usb should show up under “boot priority” but it is not there. per another post on here i went into advanced mode > CSM and enabled launch CSM, but that didn’t do anything either. idk if there’s another setting i should try? thank you for any help!
