My family doesn’t support my healthy lifestyle
I’m a 40F mom of two, working as a doctor, and recently moved back in with my parents after a rough divorce. I’ve always been bigger, like the rest of my family, but after my ex left, I decided to take control. I lost 30lbs, started eating clean, and even got into MMA for stress relief. I feel better than ever—stronger, more confident. But my family? Not so much. They joke about my ‘fancy health food,’ roll their eyes when I skip dessert, and my dad even said, ‘You’re not one of those fitness freaks, are you?’ Like I’m betraying them by taking care of myself. I cook my own meals, but it’s exhausting. I just wanted their support, not to be made to feel guilty for finally loving myself. Hockey, MMA, and my kids keep me going. Just needed to vent.
