How many times have you been overcharged at Woolworths? Check your receipts people!
Did you know they should refund you the full amount according to their policy? Insist on this and dont be fooled for a second time.
Most people dont seem bothered by a R20 here and there, but I have been overcharged more than 24 times since I started checking my receipts again in the last few weeks and it is not even about the money anymore. It is an ethical thing.
If I accidentally took something from WW shelves and I get caught, they might give me the benefit of the doubt… even after the 2nd time if I claim I have some “system errors” in my brain, they might let me go. But by the 24th time at the same store, any reasonable person will look at the odds against me (24 to 0 is not in line with coincidence if it is always to my benefit) and would prosecute. A court of law would look at the evidence and find me guilty of theft, no matter what my excuse.
So why do we remain silent?
And would it be o.k to just apologise to the store for the inconvenience and ask them to come and get the goods back from my house? The goods I “unintentionally” took from their store.
Then why do we (when we catch them)… why do we drive back to the store for a refund and spend our time and petrol to fund their unintentional “errors”?
We are being recorded with video surveillance, calls are recorded “for quality purposes”, our spending is tracked through reward cards and WW protects their staff with their policies of zero tolerance against disrespect towards staff. Everything in place to protect themselves.
How about we stop tolerating disrespect, start keeping track of their “pricing errors” and demand a public apology?
Let us know how many times you have been overcharged.
