Question of season 2 ep 4 to season 2 ep 6

How did thorfinn change so much in litterally 1 ep? Like we got season 2 ep 1-4 where he is hair down, gloomy and now in ep 6 he is hair up and talking fine with einar?? Ep 5 we didnt even see thorfinn so im wondering if i missed something??
