Growing a team

I recently became the head coach of a high school baseball team that broke up with their co-op team after last season. We are having trouble recruiting enough high school players for the 2026 season, and are unsure if playing a varsity schedule will be an option. Does anybody have any tips on how to get more kids to try out for baseball? It seems like everybody wants to run track or play AAU basketball, and I am having trouble getting anybody to potentially join. Thanks!
