Is it too late to start an IVF cycle this month?
You guys. O. M. G. I had 4 failed IUIs this year and was planning on taking the next 5-6 months to save for IVF.
I have a consultation at a new clinic on Wednesday because my IUI clinic quoted $20k for IVF and this other place’s website it showing closer to $10k so I wanted to “shop around” a little bit.
I got a call this afternoon from the new clinic and she said she spoke to my insurance and I DO have infertility benefits when I was 100% sure I didn’t. I paid $16k out of pocket across my 4 IUIs (donor sperm!).
I asked my insurance rep for my company if I could possibly get the cost of my IUIs back and am awaiting his response. I’m not super hopeful I can do this, but I’m thinking…. I get $10k a year and it resets in January?! I’m supposed to get my period around 12/11. Is it possible to get an IVF cycle done in this time? When do the cycles start? Thanks so much for any advice.
Since I started writing this my insurance guy told me to call the clinic and see if they can file for me. Fingers crossed I’m going to get my $7,500 back!! Regardless, I have 1 vial of sperm, I may take advantage of my remaining benefits and do one more IUI this month at least!!
