AITA for "stealing" from my mom?
For context, my mom (56f) has always been manipulative and gets angry for everything. It seems like she hates me (26f) and my sibling (20m). She's been giving me the silent treatment for a whole month over me getting a new job.
So, Saturday was my rest day from work and, coincidentally, I came down with a high fever. I was feeling like sh, could barely stand and was vomiting every hour. I was home alone, as my mother went out with her friends, my dad was working and who knows about my brother.
I looked through my meds cabinet to see if there was something I could take, but found nothing (I don't have much pills with me as I have been admitted before for sui*idal ideation and my dad took them away for me). I phoned my gf asking if she could come and help me, but she was two hours away (she still decided to come). I couldn't stand it no more, my head was killing me and I started to have hallucinations.
I went to my parents room and looked for their cabinet. Found it. Grabbed some equivalent of Tylenol and an ice pad for my head, and returned to my room.
Sunday morning comes, I'm feeling so much better and start getting myself ready for work when my mom comes through the door screaming that I'm a thief for stealing her medicines, accuses me to be an addict and trying to ruin her life. She tells me what's the point of having a job if I will grab HER things. I recognize it was my fault leaving everything disorganized as I didn't have the strength to clean up the mess I made while looking for the meds, but screaming at me and accusing me of stealing felt exaggerated. My dad sided with her and told me I should have my own meds. I tell him how I'm supposed to have my own medicine if he took them away from me and my mom replies that I shouldn't talk back to my father and that it was my fault for being depressed.
My brother came to the door to yell at me for bringing trouble into the family. My dad pushed him away and my mom tried "punishing" me by forbidding me from going to work (to which I simply finished getting ready and left). I decided to buy more Tylenol so I can give it to them, but the whole situation left me thinking if I'm the AH for this.
Ps: her meds cabinet used to be the family cabinet, but since she's mad at me I'm no longer allowed to grab "family items" and was well aware of this.
