There is no other guy.
Technically there was, we only had a few conversations, he did want to take me on a date, but we haven’t spoken in a couple of days and we were never even close. At least nothing in the way you thought. And he has no clue who you are, why? Because I want to erase you from my past maybe? Nope. Because he’s not close to me enough for me to tell him such an important detail in my life. It’s not about your lack of importance, it’s about his. Why did I text you then? I honestly assumed the conversation would end a few texts in, especially because you seemed uninterested and I assumed you didn’t even know it was me. So why did I let you believe there was another guy? Why was I acting cold and distant when you texted? Partly because I did feel that way, but mostly because I wanted to hurt you. It’s petty I know. But I guess I was just so caught up in trying to make you choose me that I didn’t notice your behavior so it didn’t repulse me; but it only did when you changed, things got calm again, and I started to realize how you were acting before you changed your behavior towards me. And it repulsed me, and I didn’t get to move on from that version of you I hated to catch up with the version of you I wanted. And the truth is, I didn’t hurt you because I felt nothing for you; I did because I felt everything for you. Hatred isn’t the opposite of love; sometimes it’s a different form of it. But I shouldn’t ask you to tolerate that and so I’m sorry for everything, maybe even sorry for telling you this as I don’t know if it’ll hurt more now. But I hope you do know I recognized your change, and I wanted so badly to accept it, but I was too hurt I just couldn’t. I may not be Mia to you, but just because something ended doesn’t mean it was never special to begin with. I’ll always be your little Mia in my heart, even if it doesn’t always show. Or at least I’ll always cherish that I once was. Farewell, dearest Oliver.
