Simple XLR Combo jack solution for high number of daily connections and lifetime cycles
Hey folks,
I’m just about to exchange my <6mo old FR-AV2 for a new unit (thanks to my local Wex shop for looking after me) after one of the channels became intermittent due to a suspected ZWEE connector issue.
Reading Neutrik’s product catalogue (at one point I thought I might have to manually change the connectors myself) I can see that lifetime mating cycles are rated at > 1000. ZWEE also indicate the same, but I perhaps I’m now less confident about that claim.
I’m now considering using either a short XLR cable to a XLR Combo jack connector, or an XLR to XLR Combo jack adapter that I could leave plugged into the FR-AV2, potentially helping me to avoid excessive connection cycles and preserve the life of the new unit for longer.
If you have any ideas for preserving XLR combo jack connectors lifespan or using something like an adapter to do say 5-10 mating cycles per day, please do let me know.
