Corneal involvement from lash extensions
I’ve been getting lash extensions for a long time with just a few slight issues (allergy to the glue - sometimes it happened - sometimes it did not.
Recently I had a session where I felt intense burning in my eye during the appointment, but it went away. I got home, I fanned them, and I woke up from a nap and my eyes were BLOODSHOT red. I ended up with irritation, burning, and blurriness. I went to the ER and they identified a small abrasion/dry spot. Im assuming fumes got in my eye? I do talk during the appointment so maybe that’s why?
Anyways, 2 months went by. It took 1 MONTH for the blurriness in my eye to go away using steroids. When healed I decided to go to another lash artist with more experience. I noticed her room was so dry I could barely breathe and I did speak during that appt.
I left - all looked completely fine. Hours later I start developing a horizontal line on my eyes and then the whole eye turned red. Boom same issue. I ripped all the eyelashes off i didn’t care that i ripped my own i was so miserable. My right eye again now is blurred again and have light sensitivity. Its been 1 week - slight improvements everyday.
What the hell is going on???
Im just so defeated.
Oh also to mention after doing research NONE of the lash artists I went to used a SEALANT after doing my lashes. Is that required?? And they’re skipping that part? I dont get it? I fan them longer before I leave the salon but i feel like the fumes keep releasing.
Has this happened to anyone else? What is the issue? Im so confused and discouraged.
