Pet insurance rabbit hole

Just adopted a 5 month old puppy with zero vet history, no shots, no neuter, no microchip. Planned on bringing him to the vet ASAP and figured getting pet insurance first would be a no-brainer, compare a few quotes, pick one, end of story. Welp…. here I am, lost in a rabbit hole of plans, fine print, and exclusions that make my head spin. Has anyone been with a company long-term that actually doesn’t screw them over? I’m looking for real information from real people, all the research I’ve done online feels like a bunch of BS. Any insights or personal experience would be greatly appreciated!
