Automatic Visa Revaluation (AVR) applies with h1b stamping appt scheduled?

I have an expired h1b visa on my passport. My h1b for renewed this year but it’s not stamped on my passport.

I have visa stamping appointment scheduled in Jan in India.

Is it safe to visit Canada for 2 weeks in December end for holidays and reenter US under AVR??

I am worried that the scheduled visa Appointment in India might be the reason they won’t let me in.
