[FREE] I built an AI tool that creates Garmin structured workouts in seconds—just describe what you want

Connect / Connect IQ / 1st Party Apps

Hey everyone! 👋

I'm a runner who wanted the Garmin Connect workout builder to be better. Every time I wanted to create a structured workout—intervals, tempo runs, anything beyond a simple easy run—I'd spend too many minutes clicking through menus, adding steps, setting targets. It was tedious.

So I built **[Fit File Forge](https://fitfileforge.com)\*\* and I want to share it with this community.

---

## What is it?

You describe your workout in plain English, and AI converts it into a proper Garmin structured workout that syncs directly to your watch. That's it.

**Example:** Type this:

> "3k warmup, 10x 400m at 160-165 BPM with 90s recovery jog, 2k cooldown"

...and in ~10 seconds you get a fully structured Garmin workout with all the steps, targets, and intervals properly configured. One click sends it to Garmin Connect, where it syncs to your watch.

## Features

🏃 **Natural Language Input** – Write workouts the way you think about them. No need to learn any syntax.

⚡ **Fast** – Workouts generate in under 15 seconds

🎯 **Smart Targets** – Supports heart rate zones, pace ranges, power zones (for cycling), cadence, and more

🔄 **Complex Intervals** – Repeating intervals, pyramid sets, tempo blocks all work. "8x 400m with 90s rest" just works.

🚴 **Running & Cycling** – Full support for both sports, including brick workouts (bike → run transitions)

📲 **Direct Garmin Sync** – Workouts appear instantly in Garmin Connect and sync to your device

📅 **Calendar Scheduling** – Mention a date in your description and it'll schedule the workout on your Garmin calendar

💾 **Workout Vault** – Every workout you create is saved so you can resend favorites later

🔒 **Privacy-Focused** – OAuth for everything, tokens encrypted, minimal data stored. Your workout descriptions are NOT used for AI training.

## Examples of what you can create

**Interval workout:**
> 10 min warmup, 8x 400m @ 5K pace with 90s rest, 10 min cooldown

**Tempo run with HR zones:**
> 2k warmup, 5k at 160-170 BPM, 2k cooldown

**Cycling power workout:**
> 15 min warmup, 3x (10 min @ 250-300W, 5 min recovery), 10 min cooldown

**Brick workout:**
> 45 min bike ride @ zone 2, then 20 min run @ tempo pace

**Pyramid:**
> Warmup 10 min, then 200m, 400m, 800m, 400m, 200m all at 5K pace with equal rest, cooldown 10 min

**Simple run:**
> Easy 5 mile run

## Why I'm sharing this

I built this for myself, but figured other runners and cyclists might find it useful. **It's completely free to use.** I'm paying for the AI and hosting costs myself right now.

*Transparency:* If this gets popular and costs spiral, I might need to add a paid tier eventually—but I have no plans for that right now. I just want people to use it and find it helpful.

---

## How to get started

  1. Go to [fitfileforge.com](https://fitfileforge.com)

  2. Sign in with Google

  3. Connect your Garmin account (secure OAuth, I never see your password)

  4. Describe a workout and hit Generate

  5. Preview it, then beam it to Garmin

There's also a demo mode if you want to try the AI generation without signing in.

---

## What devices work?

Any Garmin that supports structured workouts through Garmin Connect. This includes most:
- Forerunner series (245, 255, 265, 955, 965, etc.)
- Fenix series
- Epix series
- Edge cycling computers

---

## Limitations (being honest)

- **No swimming workouts yet** - Is there demand for this?
- **Can't edit within Garmin Connect** – preview before sending. You can Delete the workout from within FFF, edit, and resend.
- **One workout at a time** – no batch creation

---

## Feedback welcome!

I'd love to hear what you think. What features would make this more useful? What workout types are missing?

Happy to answer any questions below. 🏃‍♂️
