How do you report a local scam/fraudulent phone number?
I just received a phone call from a local phone number that was unrecognizable to me. Normally I don’t answer phone calls from numbers I don’t know, but I’ve been waiting from a call from a new doctor I started seeing last week and don’t have their number saved, so I answered thinking it could have been him or his office.
The call was a woman with a strong accent saying she was from “Rogers/Fido” and that she was offering me a new phone. She then asked “would you like a Samsung or iPhone?” I then asked why was I being offered a phone, and she hung up and the call ended.
As a Fido customer, I get very few calls from them, if at all, and it usually shows the caller as Fido (and they never mention Rogers, even though I am aware of the relationship), so I already felt the intro was suspicious. And then offering a phone for no reason reminded me that people actually fall for this kind of stuff.
Given it’s a local number (604 area code) I think I should report this but don’t know how to go about it. Any similar experiences? Any suggestions?
