Bachelorette trip in Santa Monica
Hey everyone1 I’m planning a bachelorette trip for a group of 8 girls for March 2026, and I’d love some real, unfiltered local input on whether Santa Monica/LA or San Diego is the better option for a long weekend.
We’re all coming in from out of town, and I keep going back and forth because both areas have such different vibes. I’ve already done the research-tourist view, but I want the honest SoCal perspective about what’s actually fun vs. what sounds better on paper.
Santa Monica / LA: Pros I’m seeing: • Tons of iconic spots (Griffith Observatory, Venice, Malibu, WeHo nightlife) • Way more restaurant + bar options • Great “big weekend” energy • Lots of variety for activities
Santa Monica / LA: Concerns: • Expensive • Traffic (I know… everyone warns me) • Pretty spread out, feels like we’ll be in Ubers constantly • Possibly too chaotic for a bigger group?
San Diego: Pros: • Chill, beachy, more walkable depending on the area • Cheaper overall (lodging + food + drinks) • Easier logistics and less traffic • Safari Park + La Jolla sea caves look super fun
San Diego: Concerns: • Nightlife doesn’t seem as strong as LA/WeHo • Maybe too laid back? • Fewer exciting? landmarks
What we want: • Good food • At least one big activity • Beach time • Some nightlife
