First Time Getting Insurance

Individual/Marketplace Insurance

I am so overwhelmed, I am shaking. How do people pay for this? I make $35,000 a year. I have money budgeted to pay like $250 a month, and $3000 in deductibles, which is already outrageous in my opinion. I rent the upstairs from my parents, so the line is blurry if I’m a dependent. The insurance lady said it’s cheaper for me to enroll insurance by myself for Pennie (I live in PA). The government is subsidizing $240 with Pennie.

I have impacted wisdom teeth and am losing hair, so want to get some labs done. And for emergencies. I’m relatively healthy at 23. Is getting insurance even worth it? I can’t afford good insurance, so whether I have a life altering accident with or without insurance, I’ll be screwed. Research is telling me the wisdom tooth removal is basically the same price out of pocket vs insurance. I go to the dentist once a year (if that 😬) with no cavities, so I’m pretty sold on paying for my surgery out of pocket. Also, should I work less to apply for Medicare 2027?

My brother has WeShare, which I see this subreddit doesn’t like. He loves it. Labs are $35 with his plan, which seems fair, and they pay for all of BetterHelp, which behavioral therapy is something I’ve always thought I’d benefit from. They also pay for one doctor’s checkup a year and around $75 per other appointments (depending on the plan).

I just want someone to tell me what to do. 😭
