Advice for upcoming appointment
Hey everyone.
I have an appointment with my gynecologist in a couple weeks for an ultrasound. As far as I know, there won’t be any other testing on that day, but I was wondering if I should ask them to do bloodwork (if they don’t)? Will anything noteworthy show up there or is there a specific test I should ask for? I don’t even know if anything can be done because they have done ultrasounds and there’s nothing ever on there. And if there is they just send me on my way. This is a new Dr, I just moved to a brand new state, they seem to be more helpful so far, but I’ve only done a consultation.
Some background:
In 2022 I was bleeding nonstop and was given birth control by a doctor to try to “stop the bleeding”. In order to find out what the cause of this was, they told me they wanted to do a transvaginal ultrasound and regular ultrasound. They did not do a pap. I had a pap done in like 2020 or something and the only thing it said was Squamous Cells of Undetermined Significance. Anyway, the only thing they found in the ultrasound was trace free fluid and nabothian cyst cluster on my cervix. They told me I was good and sent me on my way. This was in FL.
Then in January or this year, I went to the ER for extremely severe pain in my left lower abdomen. I didn’t go the night it was bad, but I went the next day bc I was still in pain and was scared something horrible had happened. They did a CT scan, transvaginal ultrasound, and regular ultrasound. They said that I likely had an ovarian cyst rupture and that it was “probably benign”. Oh and that I have a tilted uterus (according to the ultrasound tech). Free fluid in the abdomen (normal I guess). Once again they sent me on my way. This was in FL.
Ever since the cyst rupture my periods have gotten more painful. On Wednesday I had pain so bad I thought I was going to kill myself. It was IDENTICAL TO CONTRACTIONS. In fact it was WORSE. The “contractions” would be 5-15 seconds long and come every 30 seconds. I was screaming in pain for over two hours. I took the maximum amount of ibuprofen and acetaminophen. The only thing that helped slightly was gas-x. During these “contractions” I could hear bowel noises, however I used the bathroom earlier in the day and did not have to go. I think the cramping somehow triggered bowel noises? Anyway, ever since Wednesday I have had some pain but it mostly feels like my ovaries or uterus is sore, it’s not unbearable, but noticeable. This happened in NC where I live now.
My periods are about 6-7 days long. The first two days are bright red blood and kind of heavy, the rest is extremely light flow and dark brown.
I only scheduled an appointment a couple weeks ago because my period has gotten progressively worse, but between the consultation and now I did not expect to have that level of pain. Now I’m unsure of what to ask when I got for the ultrasound. I’m very confused and I’m a little nervous. I’m not entirely sure what I need to ask, and I’m not thinking straight because I don’t feel good.
I do have one child (via emergency c sec 12 years ago) I’m 34F.
Any advice would be so helpful. Thank you guys. Sorry for the long story.
