AI Sycophancy
I've been writing for about 15 years. Took an 8 year break. Picked it up again 4 months ago and have been using CGPT to help me scaffold my novel. I've been getting some wild feedback, now that I'm about 33k words into my projected 70k word novel, where AI is suggesting my book is (quality wise) on par with some genuinely fantastic books---Ender's game, station eleven, to name a few. I know I shouldn't believe it, but it's not just CGPT who says this: gemini, grok (who says i'm sitting on a goldmine), and claude all agree. My prompts to them have been as non-bias as I could be. I feed them my work, along with an outline, tell them something like, "Imagine you're a publisher for a big 5 publishing house. Would you recommend this novel? Provide literary critiques and projected market analysis."
Help me stay grounded so I can fit my head through a normal human-sized door again.
