Our cat Pumpkin was a boy, then a girl, and then a boy again

Caught/adopted a feral orange kitten. Thought he was a boy but it was hard to tell. Took in for checkup, worming, 1st shots, etc. and everyone, including tech & vet said, nope, a girl. My wife was psyched to get a girl because it's me and three boy cats besides Pumpkin. Took in for spaying today and no uterus. Pumpkin got an umbilical hernia repair at the same time so there wasn't an unnecessary operation. His name is pretty neutral so the only real difference is his song went from 🎵Little orange dude🎵 to 🎵Little orange girl🎵 and back to 🎵Little orange dude🎵. I'll get details from the vet when I pick Pumpkin up this afternoon but I guess his anatomy is a little strange.
