Expedition 5 skill points: should raiders be graded on a curve?
How would you feel about completed expedition skill points being awarded based on a performance curve? E.g. players in the top 90th percentile of total stash loot value (among everyone who completed the expedition) earn 5 skill points; the 80th percentile receives 4; the 70th gets 3; the 60th gets 2; and all remaining raiders who finished the expedition receive 1. Here's some pros and cons I can think of:
Pros:
- Since these points aren’t intended to be game-breaking or offer a big combat advantage, this could offer a fair, performance-based reward system that reflects both time invested and skill.
- If skill points were awarded based on fixed stash value tiers, it would discourage players from continuing to play the game once they reach the loot value needed to get the 5 skill points. This curve system prevents that, as the final rewards can only determined once the season is over.
Cons:
- Solo players might be disadvantaged, as they’re less likely to secure top-tier loot compared to teams that can take down large ARCs. This may not even be a big deal as you can actually amass a pretty large stash value playing solo if you have a good loot route.
- Players that abuse exploits (like door glitches) may be unjustly rewarded. But I do think these people comprise a small minority of the total player base
