Is this car sale suspicious? Advice request for buying a used car.

Advice

Went to visit a second hand car from a small dealership (found through autotrader). We were travelling from another city, which the seller was aware of.

3mins after our agreed meeting time (we were 5 mins late) the seller called us to inform us that they took the car to the garage today to sort out a clutch problem. They were giving the car a test drive and thought there was an issue with clutch. The garage, in the process of fixing the clutch, dislodged a gasket and they couldn't fix it - they need to order in the correct part.

This meant the car wasn't there for us to look at or test drive. We checked the paper work instead. The sellers were very apologetic and offered to bring it to us when it's fixed for free(we are in another city), for us to inspect and decide if we want to buy it or not. If we decide not to buy it, they still won't charge us for this.

They don't have the V5C logbook, they bought it through auction and said they don't bother with getting a replacement logbook, as they dont see the point in them being the registered keeper before sale.

Is this suspicious circumstances for buying a used car? Or are there important questions i should be asking the dealer to find out more?
