Visiting Sri Lanka in January

Hey guys I’m visiting Sri Lanka in January and worried about how this will affect my trip. We are doing the train from Kandy to Ella on the 21st January. From what I have been reading is that it’s not going to be feasible, but could anyone give me some advice about what to do?
