Physical Intimacy + Autism

autistic adult

I'm 44 years old (dude/straight) and only got diagnosed 3 years ago. For my entire life, I never liked to be kissed on the neck, on the ears and I don't like too much kissing on the lips.

Romantic partners over the years, have been confounded by this information and a number of them have taken personal offense to this information. I was always confused about why I disliked this so much, when every romantic partner I have had, seems to love to be kissed anywhere and everywhere.

After getting my diagnosis, I finally realized that the stimulation is just too much for me. When someone is kissing my ear, my body goes stiff and my internal mind is saying "Please be over quickly, please no more, please."

I met someone a few years ago, I laid out the autism thing pretty early and she's been very accommodating. No kissing my neck, ears, chest and she just gets to enjoy me doing most of those things to her and she knows it's my autism and nothing related to how I feel about her, which has been nice.

Not sure what the point of this post is, I am sure some people must relate?
