My First Scammer Experience

I just had my first scammer experience on Bumble (no not the guy I was talking about a few days ago).

I swiped right on this very handsome man. I figured - oh this guy isn't going to be interested in this old woman. He did say his age as 65. It was a new profile. Lives in my city. A Widower (of course). His interests were interior design, cruising, travel, (and some others I can't quite remember).

He messaged me about an hour after I swiped and said something to the effect that it as so nice to meet me, and wanted to get to know me better. Not too long after this, he asks about my divorce and how my "journey" was through that. He then goes on to describe that his wife had brain cancer for 9 years and how difficult it was and that she died 3 years ago, and it took him 2 years to get over it. He had a few relationship since but they didn't work out. He then goes on to say he wants a forever partner, someone to love and wake up with. And then asks me what my ideal partner is.

At first I thought - wow, this guy is asking some personal questions very quickly. He never did ask me anything about my profile - nothing about my interests - just noted I was divorced.

Once I reread the messages - I realized this guy was a scammer and I blocked him. I kind of wish I would have just went along with him to see when he'd ask me for money because he was stranded overseas...or some sob story.

It's a good thing I'm not in an desperation for a relationship. I have no problem being single - I have a great life and its quite peaceful. If I do find that unicorn that I'm looking for, well that would be just fine, but I'm perfectly content to remain single.

Anyone else have scammer stories?
