Need a laptop for mechanical engineering

Currently using a Huawei MateBook D15 — it overheats and struggles with Blender or any modelling software. I need something more powerful for SolidWorks 2025, including light simulations, but I’m on a tight budget.

I’ve heard ThinkPads are great for engineering and easy to upgrade. I’m looking for a laptop that’s reliable, future-proof enough to last me through my engineering degree, and something I can upgrade over time if performance dips.

Any recommendations?
