Beginner concert/baritone recommendations for seasoned guitar/bass player?

Hi there! My teenage son jammed with a uke player on our last trip to Hawaii and loved it. They played soprano, concert, and baritone models, and he picked up all three easily since he's been studying guitar (electric and acoustic) for a few years now quite seriously and practices all the time. The musician we met recommended purchasing from The Ukelele Store, and suggested Kala, Pono, or Luna brands, but I'm open to other options. Not ready to pony up the cash for Pono yet, so I'm leaning toward Kala but open to suggestions.

Here's my question for y'all: I'm eyeing a Kala concert uke for him, but he really loved the baritone he played so might also get that. (I know this sounds like overkill, but the kid plays music constantly.) Are there brands you would recommend for a quality baritone ukelele that won't break the bank (maybe $300 or less)? Better yet, specific models? Similarly, any popular ones that you'd recommend against?
