I am someone who has had very little interest in both musicals and wizard of oz. The only wizard of oz thing I had seen before this was that James franco movie. So wicked was never on my radar of movies I have to watch.

I never understood why theres so much hype for this, but now I’ve seen it and I get it. If I had to describe it in one word it would be “CINEMA”. This is cinema as fuck.

Like i hear a lot how Hollywood makes a lot of slop these days and it is true, but when Hollywood decides to let the vision of someone flourish without any hindrance it shows that even today Hollywood is simply unbeatable if it lets the creativity and vision of the director thrive.

This movie might have the best looking sets I’ve ever seen. The emerald city train has to be the best train I’ve ever seen in any film. Like seriously has universal studios added that to its theme park because this would one hell of an epic ride. The movie is just gorgeous to look at from every angle.

The acting is superb also. Theres not a single bad actor here. Even the talking animals were great and memorable. This is Cynthia erivos movie and she is amazing, but my favourite has to be Ariana grande. You know I thought that being a global pop star might’ve erased some of her acting talent from her early days, but nah she still got it. This role was clearly written for her in mind. I can’t imagine anyone else playing galinda as good as she did. And the rest of the supporting actors were fantastic as well.

And of course the music is a huge part and I really liked it. The loathing song in particular was my favourite cause It was funny and catchy. I never got into musicals and so I always thought why do musicals have such popularity. Wicked made me realise “ok now I understand why people crave musicals so much”.

Now I can’t wait to see the sequel which is something I never imagined I’d be saying out loud. I feel like the biggest wicked fan ever even though I have never read the book or seen the play or even read the original wizard of oz books or watched that classic movie even. Thats just how much I enjoyed this movie.

I don’t like musicals but I just watched wicked and it is phenomenal
