Disheartened

I currently work in primary care but a few months ago I was asked to cover for staff sickness in another team, a permanent position came up in this team and I just found out today that I was unsuccessful at interview. However the band 7 in the team wasn’t the one who called me to tell me the news and when I asked for feedback I was told to ‘speak to the band 7’ tomorrow and I just feel like after months of helping out, the least they could have done was call me and give me some constructive feedback. I suppose I’m looking for advice as to how to approach this with the band 7 tomorrow, as I’m pretty disheartened with the way the news was given to me or am I over thinking things?
