Guys, what would you say is the real reason why men love watching sports so much?

Do you agree with me? I finally understood the reason why men love watching so much football (soccer). I have never been so interested in football or watching sports in general since I am more of an outdoors type of guy. I like to go seat at bars and exercise at the parks. But now that I am older, I understand that men love football because that is the moment of the week where they get to get away from their wife or girlfriend and just seat down with guys. Usually women don't care about sports so watching a football game lets the guys escape for a little from conversations with them, even if only for a couple of hours.

Is it the same with basketball and NFL fans? Do they also use sports watching as a way to escape?
