Homeless in a tent
So, I’ve been bouncing around for almost an entire year now. I was told I had to leave by the director of the women’s shelter, if I were to transition, so I left for another city, I was in their domestic violence program,Christianity was forced on everyone to participate in even those with other religions, though they were still allowed to practice their own.
my plan was to get a job and start hormones and they were like nope you gotta leave, so that’s fair.
It’s extremely hard to get into the ONE transgender shelter in this city, they prioritize 18-25, marginalized people and serve 18-30 but trying to get a bed/emergency bed there is neigh impossible, as they have longer term housing options which most likely their your home program would not be available to me.
I’m lucky to attend a church that’s been helping, especially with hearing aid batteries. And the city has a lot of outreach for homelessness.
I can’t be in women’s shelters, as every time I’m ostracized and misgendered to death, esp in the religious ones. I’m AUhd, 27 yrs old, trying to get a divorce, trying to start T, and trying to get top surgery covered. Finding a job is practically impossible, I put 41 applications in just this month and no one responds, I couldn’t even get a job paying 11$ an hr at insomnia cookies.
tent camping is doable, but it’s hard to get showers, and do everything else.
I camp w 2 straight older men…and some of the men at the church, I know think certain things r going on, from what a camp mate told me.
I just want to be around my own people and I’m in extreme autism burnout, I can’t afford my meds, I’m on Medicaid, I’m trying to go to community college to get a phlebotomist cert, so I can find a decent job.
Any advice at all?
