Handling Cedar Point Lockers
Went to Cedar Point this year and had a great time - but wasted a lot of money on lockers. Here's the stats for anyone who'd like to know, like I would have before I came.
If you'd like to avoid all issues, do this:
Bring as little as possible. Almost every coaster doesn't want you bringing bags on it and will make you pay for a locker, and its not like you can bring anything useful like food or water. Several have free cubbies or allow small bags, but most of the big ones don't. So its best to sunscreen up heavily and then leave everything in the car. If possible bring only the following:
- Credit Card: the park is cash free.
- Phone: you could get away with not having this but I recommend it so you can use the app to check ride wait times. Put it in a neck lanyard and put your credit card in with it and your car keys.
- ID: again you could get away without this, but I think its generally better to have it than not.
Lockers Per Ride Breakdown
- Siren's Curse: Any bags will need to be put in a locker before joining the line. Any small objects (phones, sunglasses) can be stowed in the free lockers that they have midway through the line. If you want to take sunglasses or glasses on, you HAVE to have a safety strap. They have employees and metal detectors right after the small lockers who strongly enforce this. You can buy an extended locker space here if you want.
- Top Thrill 2: Pay for a locker at the front if you need it. I believe they allowed on small bags like fanny packs. No metal detectors so if you just want to tuck your sunglasses in your shirt or pocket you can.
- Millennium Force: Either buy a locker or have a small bag like a fanny pack. (Locker situation)
- Maverick: There's a big box everyone can pile their stuff in before strapping in (Box Situation)
- Gatekeeper: Locker situation
- Valraven: Box situation
- Iron Dragon: You could probably take a whole suitcase on this one if you wanted. No lockers or boxes just hang onto your shit.
- Rougarou: Locker Situation
- Corkscrew: Box situation
- Raptor: Locker Situation
- Magnum XL-200: I think it was a box situation but I can't recall. Feel free to correct me.
- Gemini: Box situation
- Blue Streak: Box situation
- Cedar Creek Mine Ride: Box situation
- Steel Vengeance: according to what I could find in YT videos, this one is a locker situation, as I couldn't see any boxes when I watched videos that showed loading. But it was closed when I was there so please feel free to correct me.
Locker Pricing (estimated as they seemed to change depending on the location) (for small lockers, as that is all I used)
- 2 hours (generally long enough to get through a line on a popular coaster) 3-5 dollars
- 4 hours (if you're planning to stay in one area or just come back to your stuff later) 12-18 dollars
- If you go over you'll be fined, but honestly it might be worth it rather than accruing a bunch of small charges getting new lockers every time you move to another area of the park. I think it's like $25 or something.
Locker Sizes
- The smallest lockers are the ones mid-line in the siren's curse ride. They fit just fine your small handheld items. The workers shouldn't let you bring anything that wouldn't fit past the line start.
- The small lockers in the locker areas can fit several small bags. Ours fit two crossbody purses and a small backpack and hats just fine.
- The large lockers were indicated with a backpack icon, so I imagine they should serve an average sized backpack.
Cedar Point website doesn't give any disclosure that I can find about how you'll have to stow everything you bring into the park if you want to ride the coasters, which I think is shit.
