Can a RTX5060Ti work with my motherboard?

I'm trying to snatch a GPU before the feared price hike and planning to upgrade my 3060Ti to a 5060Ti. There's an ASUS 16GB unit that'd be good but I'm wondering if I can use it with my current motherboard: GIGABYTE B660M GAMING X DDR4 (rev. 1.0)

As far as I understand the GPU uses a PCIe 5.0 x 16 connection while my motherboard has a PCIe 4.0 x 16. Is it right to assume that the connector itself is backwards compatible as long as the number of lanes are matching?
