I really need some help with Pokémon.

I need help creating a strategy and team to beat my brother in Pokémon Emerald. Basically, we battle at every gym we pass, but he knows much more about Pokémon, so I'm I'm here to ask for help in creating a good strategy to overcome this challenge against my brother.
