Should I just go ahead and publish?
Hi! I’ve been working on my first book for almost a year, and I’m basically finished with it, after about 3 rewrites and 12 edits😅 My best friend is one of the few people who know I’m doing this at all, and she is a HUGE reader. I was excited to be finished and sent her the PDF, offering it up as a chance to read it early since she was intrigued by the story. I told her it was ready and I was about to send it in (this was back in September). I felt really confident with it and she read the first few pages and told me she made several changes that I didn’t ask for. I panicked and second guessed myself, thinking it needed a lot more work. And she didn’t find grammar issues, it was content that she was changing. It’s now been almost 3 months that she’s had the manuscript and she’s not even halfway done reading it. I am feeling confused on if I should hold out for her full opinion (that I really didn’t ask for), or if I should do my own final proofread/edit and publish like I originally intended earlier this fall.
