Chapter 2: Never Met Anyone as Shameless as You
It turned out to be a girl in a pink tracksuit, in her early twenties, with a ponytail, and a fairly pretty appearance.
Naturally, for Fang Hong, an old monster who had lived for over five hundred years and seen countless unparalleled beauties, to consider her “fairly pretty,” it meant this woman had actually reached the level of a *hóngyán huòshuǐ* (a beauty who brings disaster, a femme fatale).
Business has finally started? Divine Doctor Fang was secretly delighted, but his expression remained very aloof.
After all, as a dignified Peak Saint-level Cultivator and the Number One Divine Doctor under Heaven, this demeanor (or airs) had to be maintained.
“What illness do you have?” Fang Hong asked, sitting upright and formally.
“Illness?” The girl was stunned for a moment, then glared fiercely at Fang Hong: “You're the one who's ill!”
“If you're not ill, why did you rush in here?” Divine Doctor Fang was also slightly displeased. With his abilities, whether the other party was sick or not, and what illness they might have, he could tell just by looking a few times—Director Li’s daughter, Meng Meng, was a case in point.
And the fairly pretty girl before him genuinely wasn't ill; she wasn't even suffering from sub-health issues.
“Sorry about that, I'm just borrowing your place to hide for a moment!” After the girl finished speaking, she didn't wait for the owner's consent and hurried up the ladder toward the small attic.
“Are you kidding me? Hey...” Fang Hong was feeling quite exasperated.
May I ask your name, young lady? With so many places to hide, why must you hide specifically in my house?
Just as the girl hid in the attic, two young men in black clothes with tattoos on their arms quickly barged in.
One of them pointed at Fang Hong and demanded aggressively: “Hey, kid, have you seen a girl wearing a pink tracksuit?”
Fang Hong furrowed his brow. Are they serious? First, a woman runs into my house inexplicably wanting to hide, and then two punks come yelling and shouting.
Do you think this Divine Doctor is a slice of mutton that anyone can dunk (in a hotpot) and treat lightly?
“Scram, while I can still suppress my rage.” Fang Hong said coldly.
The two men were momentarily startled, and then their eyes flashed with malice.
“Are you f***ing looking for death?!” One of the men raised his palm and slapped toward him.
He fully believed that this single slap was enough to knock this youth, who looked like a rack of ribs, sprawling and searching for his teeth everywhere.
However, his palm merely struck the air!
Just as he was bewildered, he realized that his pinky finger had been gently pinched by the skinny youth.
Having entered the Dao through medicine for five hundred years, Fang Hong's understanding of human anatomy had long reached the pinnacle of perfection, and naturally, he understood perfectly which joints of the human body were most vulnerable under what circumstances.
With a seemingly casual twist, a crisp *pa* sound was heard, and the punk's pinky bone immediately dislocated.
Ten fingers are connected to the heart (extreme sensitivity), and the pinky is especially so!
The punk screamed like a pig being slaughtered from the pain. In desperation, he raised his foot to kick Fang Hong, but Fang Hong didn't dodge at all. He simply squeezed the opponent's pinky and twisted it gently again.
“Wah! Mama!” The punk's foot was only halfway out before he fell straight to his knees from the pain, tears and snot gushing out simultaneously as if a dam had broken.
That kind of pain made one wish for death just to be free of it!
The punk no longer dared to move. Although only his pinky finger was being held, it felt as if his entire life was being clenched by the other person.
The other punk saw his accomplice suffer a great loss, grabbed a stool, and tried to swing it over.
Fang Hong acted first, picking up the inkstone from the table and splashing it.
The ink from the inkstone swished, turning into a black arrow that hit the opponent squarely between the eyebrows. The ink splattered all over his face, making him unable to open his eyes. In his panic, the stool he had raised unconsciously slipped from his grasp and fell precisely onto his toes, making the punk jump around clutching his foot in pain.
The punk wasn't stupid; he knew he had run into a tough opponent and didn't want to suffer immediate losses. Yet, habitually, he spoke toughly, pointing at Fang Hong and shouting: “Kid, you wait for me!”
Having said that, he turned around, intending to flee.
Fang Hong strode forward and kicked the punk over: “Wait for what?! If I have a grudge, I settle it right then and there!”
After a relentless, thorough beating, the pitiful punk was covered head to toe in shoe prints, and his face was swollen into a black pig's head.
This was already Divine Doctor Fang showing mercy. After all, he held no deep vendetta against the two punks. If he disciplined them too severely, he worried his currently negative Merit Value (Gōngdé Zhí) might suffer losses it couldn't afford.
Forget it. This Divine Doctor has always been broad-minded, benevolent, and merciful. I'll let you off this time!
“Scram, scram, scram. Don't interfere with my business.” Fang Hong waved his hand.
The two punks didn't dare utter a single word and scurried away, crawling and tumbling.
*Clap, clap, clap...* Applause rang out overhead. The girl climbed down the ladder and said in surprise: “Looking at you, you seemed like a sickly weakling, I never expected your skills to be so good!”
Fang Hong was expressionless, gesturing toward the main door with his palm: “You may leave now.”
The girl pouted her cherry lips, feeling a little wronged: “It's completely dark now. As a single girl, aren't you worried about me being in danger?”
Fang Hong countered: “Why should I worry?”
The girl stamped her foot, her beautiful eyes glistening: “How can you be a person with no sympathy? Would doing a good deed kill you?”
Fang Hong ignored her completely, looking at the puddle of ink on the ground and cursing: “Those two bastards, they made the floor so dirty. Letting them go like that—I truly was too merciful.”
Seeing that Fang Hong hadn't glanced at her even once from beginning to end, the girl felt both helpless and unwilling to give up, muttering softly: “Is this guy... gay (Wān de - lit. bent)?”
Fang Hong immediately looked over and said: “Of course I'm not bent. It's just that you think too highly of yourself.”
The girl jumped in surprise, not expecting the other party to hear such a faint whisper. However, seeing Fang Hong repeatedly ignore her proudly beautiful appearance, and even openly mocking her, her pampered temper flared up: “Speaking of thinking highly of oneself, I don't think anyone can compare to you! ‘Number One Medical Hall Under Heaven’—are you claiming to be the Number One Divine Doctor under Heaven?”
Fang Hong asserted proudly: “Naturally.”
The girl spat dismissively: “Peh! You really don't know how to be modest!”
Fang Hong said: “It's true that I don't know how to be modest, but I'm not arrogant either. I always just tell the truth.”
The girl was so angry she burst into a laugh: “You've defeated me! I've met shameless people before, but I've never met anyone as shameless as you!”
But despite being resigned, the girl sat down right away, showing no intention of leaving.
This time, it was Fang Hong who felt depressed. Why was this girl clinging to him? He was also very helpless; a grown man couldn't very well lay hands on a young woman. Divine Doctor Fang still possessed that much decorum.
After a standoff, Fang Hong reluctantly went into the kitchen to prepare dinner. In his previous life, he had long practiced *bìgǔ* (abstinence from grains and food), but now that everything was starting anew, the problem of food and warmth still needed solving.
“Hey, put in more rice and add two more dishes. I haven't eaten all day.” The girl said.
“Damn it!” Fang Hong was so angry that he banged a spatula against the stove top, causing a few sparks to fly.
This little woman, is she going to take an inch and ask for a mile?
However, even though he was gritting his teeth in anger, in the end, he still added half a cup of rice to the pot.
Are you kidding me? When did I become so protective and considerate toward women? Fang Hong muttered internally.
With a *ding* sound, the Merit Stele (Gōngdé Bēi) deep within Fang Hong's soul flashed with golden light. After the golden light faded, the number on it changed from negative two hundred and fifty to negative two hundred and forty-nine.
One point of Merit Value (Gōngdé Zhí) had increased!
Fang Hong was both surprised and delighted. This was the first time he had gained a Merit Point since his rebirth.
Could it be that he saved the girl and then let her stay for a meal, thereby receiving one point of Merit Value?
Given this, Fang Hong had to reconsider things. If he forcefully chased the girl away after dinner, would that cause the Merit Point he had just managed to gain to be lost again?
Regardless, because he had gained one point of Merit Value, Divine Doctor Fang felt much more balanced psychologically and no longer complained loudly against fate.
