Sick after nose piercing falling out

I have had this piercing for a month now. It fell out yesterday night, and I woke up with my heart already beating fast and feeling so nauseous. The nausea didn't stop until I put the nose piercing back in, and a few minutes after took meds. Why did this happen? Did my body get so used to the piercing that it couldn't function without it?
