Hot take: Miami and the ACC's arguments are stupid and self defeating.

The only thing separating Miami from UVa right now is their win over Notre Dame. Heck, they'd probably be one spot below UVa, because unlike Miami, the Cavs actually beat Louisville. Making this a Notre Dame vs. Miami argument undermines the very thing that is keeping you afloat. It's like trying to burn down your neighbor's house when you live in an apartment building... on a house boat.

If anything, Miami and the ACC should be lauding how good of a team Notre Dame is right now, as a rising tide lifts all boats. And speaking of the Tide, that is who Miami should be directing their ire towards. Because guess what? Just over a month after FSU beat Bama by 2 scores, Miami pretty soundly thumped FSU, who only made the box score look nice by scoring 19 points in the 4th quarter. And FSU is one of their conference brethren, the fact that an ACC bottom feeder beat Bama by so much really messes up the SEC dominance narrative.

So, any Miami fans lurking this sub, maybe change your sales pitch a little bit here. ND's 25.0 points in FPI have created a relatively large delta between ND and the other 2 loss teams. But Bama and Miami are really close, less than 1 point separating the two, and when you compare common opponents (not to mention quality wins, as UGA is sitting at 8th in FPI), Miami should be ahead of Bama right now if you are using FPI as a resume building tool.
