Summary of Last Session (Tuesday, December 2, 2025)
The markets witnessed a sharp correction, succumbing to the "Sell on Rise" texture as bulls failed to sustain higher levels.
- Closing Value: NIFTY 50 closed at 26,032.20, down significantly by 143.55 points (-0.55%)
- The Breakdown: After a muted start, the index faced relentless selling pressure throughout the day. It broke the key support of 26,100 and tested the psychological 26,000 mark (making a low of 25,997) before managing a mild recovery to close just above it
- The Trigger: Nervousness ahead of the RBI MPC meeting and weak global cues prompted traders to unwind long positions
- Sectoral Moves:
- Losers: IT and Metals were the biggest drags
- Resilience: Pharma and select FMCG stocks acted as defensives, preventing a deeper crash
Outlook for Today: Wednesday, December 3, 2025
The outlook for Wednesday is Cautiously Stable with a likely Gap-Up Opening. The market is expected to respect the 26,000 support and attempt a recovery.
1. Latest GIFT NIFTY Value
- Current Status: As of 1:35 AM IST, the GIFT Nifty is trading around 26,195
- Trend: It is trading with a premium of roughly 165 points over the NIFTY 50 spot close (26,032), though this includes the fair value cost-of-carry for the December series
2. Implied Opening for NIFTY 50
Based on the GIFT Nifty level, the data implies a sideways opening for the NIFTY 50.
- Expected Opening Range: 26,050 – 26,100
3. Latest Factors Impacting the Correlation
A. RBI MPC Meeting Begins (Domestic Focus)
- Event: The Reserve Bank of India’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting kicks off today (Dec 3–5)
- Impact: With Q2 GDP growth clocking in at a robust 8.2% and inflation softening, the market expectation is split between a "Pause" and a "Dovish Pivot." This event will likely keep aggressive buying in check, forcing the market into a range after the initial opening
B. Global Stability (Neutral Cue)
- US Markets: Wall Street stabilized overnight after Monday's sell-off. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed flat-to-positive, halting the negative momentum
- Asian Markets: Indices like the Nikkei 225 and Hang Seng are trading green this morning, supporting the case for a recovery in Indian markets
C. Technical "Double Bottom" at 26,000
- Support: The fact that NIFTY tested 25,997 yesterday and bounced back confirms 26,000 as a rock-solid support
- Strategy: As long as 26,000 holds, the dip is a buying opportunity. The immediate resistance to watch after the gap-up is 26,200
4. Technical Levels to Watch
| Level | Significance | Strategy |
|---|---|---|
| 26,150 | Resistance | Immediate hurdle. Aggressive buying only above this |
| 26,000 | Support | The "Line in the Sand." Yesterday's defense of this level makes it critical |
| 25,900 | Base | If 26,000 breaks, this is the next major demand zone |
Trading Strategy:
- Defensive: Avoid aggressive large bets. The market is waiting for the RBI policy
- Buy on Dip: If Nifty dips near 25,980 – 26,000, look for a bounce play with a small stop loss
- Bank Nifty Watch: Since it is Bank Nifty expiry today, expect volatility in banking stocks. Watch 59,100 as key support
