Communicating during sex when hard of hearing

Hi. So this is probably more a general sex question, but since bdsm is so dependent on good communication I figured you guys would have some good insights here.

So it’s been a while since I had a boyfriend. While I’ve been single my hearing has gotten a lot worse (otosclerosis), and I’m now facing a new problem in this new relationship. My bf is hearing, and while we communicate just fine during the day when I can both see him and wear my hearing aids, it’s a different story when I take them off at night. So I was wondering if you guys can share some easy communication tactics you guys use when hearing/seeing is difficult. I had a talk with my bf and he’s definitely up for learning, but I’m not sure where to start with this. And yes I’ve been mostly hearing my entire life. Though I am learning my local sign language now, it’s only been a few months. I was hoping for something a lot more basic. You know like always to communicate «good keep going» or «not really into that».
