Does the tip for left-handed people make an actual difference?

Hi! I’m new to the fountain pen world/community, and I want to purchase a Lamy Safari with a fine nib. I’m left-handed, so I want to know if the left-handed nib actually makes a difference, or if it’s just like most things marketed for left-handed people that are basically the same and don’t help in the daily use of the product at all. I’m guessing the left-handed nib would come with a medium nib if I order it, but I’m not sure. I would really appreciate some advice. Thanks! :D
