about Orpheus and Alice AOM

I was replaying AOM and the scene where Orpheus holds up Alice's doll of young orphy​ appeared. Because of that I got confused, how does he not recognise that she was the same Alice? Or does he know but merely is feigning ignorance for the sake of the games? I also heard from somewhere that he had hired Norton to "kill" Alice. Is that true? Why would he hu​
