AmeriHealth is the absolute worst, stay away!!!

CANCER MERCHANT!

TLDR: Just wanted to rant and let everyone beware that AmeriHealth is a total scam. Now that enrollment is open for next year for those of us getting insurance on the marketplace, choose wisely if you have a choice!

Had a medical procedure earlier this year and got the bill, no problem and I paid my portion (under high deductible plan), then a few months pass and suddenly AmeriHealth changes the bill to double the original amount (the provider did not change anything) and slap me with a new $1000+ bill. I've been on phone with them for months, each time the rep doesn't know anything and just tells me they'll escalate the issue and file an inquiry but that I have to wait for 30-45 days, and each time after I wait for over a month I get a reply that just says "the new bill is correct but we're not telling you why we doubled the price". Their customer disservice system doesn't have any way that lets me talk directly to someone who understand the claim, and at this point I'm so sick of it that I might just eat the cost, meanwhile filing a complaint to the state dept of insurance.

In no world should an insurance company be this opaque and shady in what they make the customer pay. To all those who are considering AmeriHealth, I can only say stay away and save yourself the headache!!!
