Question

I'm in the process of designing some triggered abilities that revolve around cards temporarily becoming copies of other cards. However, I ran into an issue with their rules text (examples above).

I'm fairly certain that the second line of text works just fine, but I think the first line doesn't work the way I intended it to. If my understanding is correct, by becoming a copy of something else, the creature loses its previous abilities and therefore they don't trigger.

How could I word [Name]'s ability so that it's triggered when [Name] itself becomes a copy of something else? Would "As [Name] becomes a copy,..." work? I think a replacement effect ("If [Name] would become a copy,...") would work, but I'd like to avoid that if I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
