I ended up watching the 90s version of hunter recently after someone said it was better than the 2011 version. I honestly see what they mean in certain ways but, I see it as a Pro’s and Con’s situation and for whichever one you watched first and at what age. It can be a nostalgia thing too but, this is the list of pro’s and cons I came up with for both after my recent watch.

90’s HxH pros
______________
-More scene depth
-Character design
-Soundtrack
(I want to put fight scenes but, it’s almost as if they just execute the fight scenes differently which invokes a different feeling then 2011’s. Chrollo’s 2v1 in the yorknew arc is a good example. Everything is the same yet how they show the fight is paced differently.)
-Coloring

90 HxH cons
______________
- Voice acting (at times the voice acting just falls short and it’s not often enough to take away from the whole show I just noticed it at times)
- Nen Aura ( Nen isn’t shown quite differently in the 90’s than 2011. I like both actually but, at first the simple outlines with diffrent colors and more direct visuals showing the wide use of nen was something that had to grow on me.)

2011 HxH Pros
_______________

-More content ( obviously just because the manga was further along at the time)
- Nen aura ( I’m sure some don’t like the all white nen of the 2011 but, to me it felt like ki. It was supposed to be cool when someone’s aura changed from the basic white and was a sign of an ability being in use.)
- Voice acting ( I honestly think the voice acting for 2011 is perfect , there’s rarely a time I ever bat an eye at the characters back and
forth)
- Character design (I actually really enjoyed the looks for both anime for separate reasons so I put it for both) 💔

2011 HxH Cons
________________

- Fight scenes pre york new ark. ( The fights that they had already animated in the 90’s are sadly open to comparison and in my opinion the 90’s does the brutality and superhuman of it all better than the 2011’s anime.)
- Loss of grit ( I didn’t really understand what someone meant when they said the tone changed but, after watching the 90’s anime I understand. It’s much lighter and i’m not even sure if it was intentional. There is times it feels like the same gritty and dark world but, other times it feels like a brighter shonen.)

All this being said I’m curious what everyone else’s pro’s and con’s are. Preferably those who’ve watched both all the way through please 😭 Also sorry if this is a lot to read! I really love HxH and didn’t have a lot of pro’s and con’s cause I don’t make or hold a lot of strong opinions about peak. m I genuinely love both anime’s and was just happy to have more hxh content to absorb. These are all opinions and don’t matter so please go easy on me if you disagree with anything.
