This is Leela. She’s the prettiest, softest, sweetest little lady. Her and my husband seem like soulmates - the way they cuddle and look at each other melts me. ❤️ We are desperate for help.

Leela has always had a pee problem. We have a 1600 sq ft house that’s 3 stories. We’ve had up to 11 litter boxes at once (“only” 6 now) and have exhausted all types of litter. Her preference is peeing on anything soft - blankets, a sweatshirt or dirty laundry, whatever. Medical issues were “ruled out” when she was a kitten. She pees on our couch (destroyed an old fabric one so we got leather and she still pees on that), bed, dog bed, dog cots, and on the “bed” she uses (a large squishmallow). It seems she refuses to use a litter box. The closest we get is that she’ll sometimes pee on shoe trays placed next to the litter box. We have 2 chairs she destroyed that we have placed potty pads on and she’ll use those but not consistently. She also will only poop in one location - on the floor next to one specific litter box. We have trays down to try to make clean up easier and she dodges those to use the floor instead.

The pee problems have escalated a bit as she is even climbing on top of our reptile cages and peeing on them, even with pokey sheets on top to prevent cats from crawling on them. She even pees in any open container left on the counter so we’re extra diligent about putting away dishes and pots.

Now we have a baby coming and we know that if we don’t get Leela’s pee issues under control, our baby’s items will be destroyed in no time. I won’t invest in things like a maternity pillow yet because I know it’ll be peed on. We’re doing laundry daily and still throwing items out daily. It’s quite amazing we haven’t lost our shit yet - it’s been 2.5 years since we picked up this little kitten from a rescue.

We don’t want to rehome Leela but we’re to the point where we’re going to need to if we can’t solve this problem. Our relatives are in disbelief that we’ve kept her this long. I was hoping it’d be something medical so we’d at least get answers. We’ve tried the pheromone diffusers and those never seemed to help either.

Can anyone share any advice? Even if it’s specifics to ask her vet about. We’re desperate. We love this girl so much but we can’t go on living like this.
