When they play the shell game…

When your caller plays the shell game A.K.A. mental gymnastics or word salad, how do you respond? Do you just let them go on and on? (By the way, this is usually when they are telling their version of the accident.) Please tell me you guys experience this too? I may need to work on my bullsh*t tolerance.
