Lute might be on to something(upsettingly)
One of the things that she said in Episode 2 during the trial was "Some slimy fucker tricks fate into allowing him here, it means nothing!" Now, yes, shes crashing out, but I've been hooked on that line for a little bit. And she might be right. The Speaker of God said "It seems that this soul has atoned for the sins of his life, his past." Let's take that and run with it, no more no less.
Now, I'd like to preface this by saying, she could be wrong, she LITERALLY said "it SEEMS" we have no conformation this is all there is to it, or if this is even true at all, but for the sake of this theory, let's take it as plausible fact.
If all that's needed for redemption is to atone for the sins of your past life, let's dive deeper into what that entailed, yes? Sir Pentious let those 5 women die without any push back. That was an irreversible choice. He atoned by being put in the same situation that he made the better choice during. But did he really?
The people Sir Pentious decided to save, weren't strangers, they were his friends. This is akin to like, that one weird trolley problem game where it gets more and more complicated. There is a different variable. But the situation was similar ENOUGH.
Now, combining the fact that it seems one must only atone for the sins of their past life, combined with the fact the atonement doesn't have to be exact, but a generalization, is it plausible that someone from hell could trick their way into heaven? I think so, for 2 reasons.
Number 1, It doesn't seem like you need to atone for any sins you commit in your AFTERLIFE. Let's say there's a cannibal in cannibal town. All they did in life, was eat the flesh of man, right? But after going to hell, they start killing people for the love of the game? If that cannibal stop eating people, would that not redeem them regardless of their new murder hobby?
Number 2, Charlie's plan could work 100%. In Speed Run to Redemption, she tries to recreate Sir Pentious' Redemption with Angel. Of course, that wouldn't work on Angel, but it might be feasible had it been with Pen. Like in his actual redemption, the situation was noticeably different, instead of a stranger, it was his Crush and Friends. Those VERY WELL could have been the main factors of his decision. Of course HOW different the scenarios are allowed to be might be tight, but still, plausibly possible.
Anyway, those are just my thoughts, what do we think?
